
Dear journalists,
UNISON Group announces a competition for participation in a 2-day training on energy and resource efficiency and small renewable energy sources (RES) for the media, which will be held on October 17 and 18, 2024 in Bishkek.
The training is intended for journalists covering environmental issues and seeking to improve their knowledge of green technologies. During the classes, group discussions, case studies and site visits are provided, where participants will be able to familiarize themselves with the implementation of energy-efficient and resource-saving measures in practice.
Training topics:
- Fundamentals of energy efficiency and use of renewable energy sources;
- Financial and economic aspects of energy efficiency projects;
- Modern approaches to media coverage of environmental issues;
- Skills to promote topics in the field of climate change and green technologies.

10 places for journalists from the regions are provided for participation, all expenses are covered.
Selection criteria for journalists:
- journalists covering environmental, climate, and energy issues;
- media representatives with experience in the field of climate change, renewable energy or energy conservation;
- motivation to deepen knowledge and improve skills for better coverage of environmental and energy conservation topics;
- willingness to use the acquired knowledge in their journalistic practice.
As part of the training, it is planned to visit the facility and demonstrate the implementation of energy- and resource-efficient technologies in practice.
This course will help participants:
- improve understanding of the key UN international framework on climate change and the Sustainable Development Goals;
- to get acquainted with the basics of the national green economy policy, including energy conservation and energy efficiency policy, renewable energy sources, NDC, Green Economy Action Plan and green taxonomy;
- to study topics about concepts and types of energy-efficient and resource-saving technologies in various industries in more depth;
- gain basic skills in the technical and economic feasibility of energy efficiency measures in accordance with best practices and international standards;
- to familiarize participants with the basic calculations of energy efficiency/RES, the financial impact of resource costs, and the financial analysis of energy and CO2 emissions;
- Gain knowledge about effective tools for measuring and monitoring energy consumption, with a focus on transforming your community project into an idea that uses sustainable and environmentally friendly approaches.;
- understand how to share the environmental benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy measures at the community level.
